‘We Are The Fish’
While listening to a preacher talk about a particular verse of scripture, I decided to put the television on mute, for he said something and I needed to get to my bible for verification, as Christians should do, to validate and substantiate what was heard,
is true according to God’s Word, and to also allow myself to write what the Holy Spirit would lead me to write based on what was revealed in my spirit by the Holy Ghost.
The particular passage of scripture comes from Matthew 14:17-20, where five thousand men, plus women and children were fed and there were twelve baskets left over which were gathere by the disciples. My attention was drawn to the fact when Jesus did not want
to send the people away hungry, He was urged by the disciples to send the crowd away into their various villages to buy food for themselves, Jesus’ response however was let them stay and you feed them; as to how were they going to feed this multitude
with virtually nothing (two fish and five barley loave), was responded to Jesus. A gospel song writer says, little become much when you place it in the Masters Touch. Jesus told them to bring what they had, and what they had, which was the two fish and five
barley loaves being in the possession of a youngster who was in the crowd. Barley was the poor mans bread for it was much cheaper than wheat, so you might want to envision the crowd was mostly made up of the those who were not as we would say not well to do
in societal terms.
But that did not stop Jesus, after receiving what they had, the two fish and five barley loaves Jesus looked toward heaven and blessed
the food, and broke the bread, gave it to the disciple who then distributed it to the men, women, and children; after all were satisfied, the remains were gathered into twelve baskets.
What caught my attention was the fact that the barley loaves were distributed, but what happened to the two fish? Great question, the fish represent you and me, what Jesus is demonstrating here is His love and compassion for the needs of the people. Jesus
was trying to teach His disciples, when the crowd came looking for His help in their weary and tattered lives. The people needed healing from their struggles and illnesses, they needed hope and even though Jesus was trying to get some rest and mentor His disciples,
He did not put His needs above that of the people and this happened before He performed the miracle of feeding multitude.
You see ‘We Are The
Fish’ thank God, Jesus does not ignore those who diligently seek Him, for He takes time for those who are walking dead, and transforms them into walking testimony’s by addressing and attending to our needs, not only were the people physically hungry,
but one can surmise their souls were crying out for Jesus’ words that would feed the inner man and why would that be; because Jesus states "My Words are spirit and they are life". Ref. John 6:63 When one hungers and thirsts after righteousness, they
shall be filled. Ref. Matthew 5:6
Another titbit is, scripture does not say He is the fish of Life, but states He is the Bread of Life!!!!! Ref. John
6:35; 6:48
Just an interesting observation dropped into my spirit about the two fish and the five barley loaves, so here I provoke you to think as well and search for yourselves
as to realize we are the fish whom He blessed and kept, so let us go fishing for men that they will be blessed as we were and are, after receiving the Bread of Life!!!
