‘THE STONE HAS BEEN ROLLED AWAY FOR US’
In the book of Luke the 24th chapter an ever life changing event took
place at the crack of dawn! This event altered the day when most God fearing folk, now worship, and is now nestled forever in the annals of His-Story! When you go to Matthew 16:21, you will find Jesus had begun to make it abundantly clear how He had
to go into Jerusalem and suffer at the hands of religious leaders leading to the ultimate consequence of death on a cross between two thieves. However the ultimate consequence of His death, on Good Friday was not the end of that whole series of events
during passion week. For Jesus has told them of His death, and He had also told them of His resurrection on the third day.
It’s amazing how quickly we forget things spoken to us, and this was never more apparent
than by Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome. These women who on the first day of the week (Sunday) had prepared spices to anoint the body of the Lord, whom they believed was still laying in the borrowed tomb. The words of Jesus were forgotten
by these women and also many others. Evidence of this can be found in: Mark 16:3 MSG They worried out loud to each other, “ Who will roll back the stone from the tomb for us?”
We worry about who is going to
roll away the stone, and why do we worry? We worry because we have forgotten who the stone represents, The Lord is the Chief Corner Stone Psalms 118:22. The chief cornerstone was indicative of a stone that was rejected and forgotten
about, Jesus was forgotten and He was not even accepted as the Messiah by many, nor did people remember what He said, and when we forget the Words of Christ or what the Scriptures say about Him; there is pause to be concerned.
While
we too often are worrying or questioning the ‘how’ the Lord has already worked it out, when Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, arrived at the tomb much to their amazement the stone was already rolled away for the stone was
huge, and there was no way they could have rolled it away! However, they did not even stop to reason with each as to how the stone was rolled away, but proceeded to enter the tomb and found a young man sitting on the right dressed in a long white robe
if you will and all of a sudden fear rode in, but the young man said to them, do not fear, for the Jesus of Nazareth who was crucified is not here, He has risen, look at where He was laid, you see He is not here. The young man instructed them to go back
and tell the disciples and Peter that Jesus will see them in Galilee as He had already said. They got out of the tomb as fast as they could. After Jesus’ resurrection early on Sunday morning, Jesus met up with Mary Magdalene, the woman He had delivered
from seven demons. She then left Him and went to inform the disciples who were grieving and crying and told them she had seen Jesus, they did not believe her, and that is typical of too many of us today, we don’t believe. Two of the others were
on a countryside road when Jesus appeared to them and had a conversation with them, and they went and communicated what they saw and they also were not believed.
Its interesting when the stone is rolled away what we are able to see,
while the eleven were eating supper, Jesus showed up and got in their case for their stubborn unbelief and refusing to believe those who said they saw Him, (Jesus) who was truly raised from the dead. When you believe the stone has been rolled away, you
can receive salvation and baptism of the Holy Spirit, but if the stone still covers the tomb of your heart with a refusal to accept that it can be rolled away, you are dammed!
Because the stone has been rolled away, we are no longer
trapped with no way out, when the stone was rolled away all of my doubts have been settled, because the stone has been rolled away all of my fear is gone, because the stone has been rolled away I am no longer shackled with a ball and chain of woe, I have freedom
and safety in His arms, because the stone has been rolled away my going has been established and my feet have been placed on the rock (stone) that is higher than I! Because the stone has been rolled away the world can’t do me no harm, because the
stone has been rolled away, I have been healed by the wound in His side, because the stone has been rolled away my hate has turned into love, my tears have been washed away, my hands look new and my feet too!
Has the stone been rolled
away in your life? If you are able to read this, its not too late, allow the Lord to have the stone rolled away, and trust me there is no stone too big that can not be rolled away by the risen Lord. Let His roll away that stone of disappointment, jealousy,
hatred gossip, dispair, fornication, adultery, lying, stealing, cancer, heart disease and the list can go on and on, accept the stone the builders rejected who became the Chief Cornerstone, stop hanging on the corner getting stoned; but allow the stone to
be rolled away!!!!!!!!!!
